A management system provides the foundation for developing and implementing sound policy and managing risks and opportunities. It will at once address your organisational structure, planning activities, management responsibilities, procedures, processes and resources.
The development of an environmental, quality or workplace health and safety (WHS) management system follows a similar process, and integrated management systems (e.g. SHEQ) can also be developed following the same process.
Our comprehensive range of services will assist you through every stage of the EMS, QMS, WHSMS or SHEQ lifecycle. Graham A Brown & Associates has examined, developed and reviewed approximately 60 environmental, health and safety, quality, community relations and integrated management systems in many industries internationally.
Our management system mentoring process consists of periodic visits to the site from one of our experienced management system consultants. The consultant will meet with the Systems Coordinator and work through one or more stages of development and implementation. Tasks completed during the mentoring process include training delivery, documentation review, management reviews, gap analysis and software implementation.
The Coordinator reports to the mentor using our Mentoring Program Sheet. This documented record of activities prior to the visit, during the visit, and to be undertaken prior to the next visit, is an extremely effective way of communicating progress to the organisation’s management and tracking progress in developing the management system.

We can tailor management system tools to align with your organisation’s management goals such as conformance with or certification to ISO 14001, AS/NZS 4801, OHSAS 18001, ISO 45001, ISO 50001 or ISO 9001, including:
The design of your management system must be followed by implementation. This requires constant effort and often results in a two to three year process (if nothing is in place at the start) which can involve:
The implementation/certification of a Management System to an international standard is dependent on resources provided, the dedication of people concerned, and management commitment. Graham A. Brown & Associates can provide a professional and experienced service to the Management System Coordinator(s) in the form of mentoring these personnel through the process of management systems development, to ensure that the development and implementation of the management system stays on track, on time and within budget and achieves a successful outcome. We will ensure you keep up with the changing world of environmental, WHS/OHS, quality and energy management by:
A management system is intrinsically interlinked to several organisational areas including environment, health and safety, quality, energy, human resources, administration, purchasing, operations and production, as shown in the following diagram for links to an Environmental Management System (EMS).
We can assist you to realise the benefits of an integrated system through improved efficiency, uniformity and streamlined communication.
Certification involves independently verifying that your management system meets the criteria specified in the relevant national or international standard. We assist organisations to achieve certification to established standards such as ISO 14001, ISO 9001, OHSAS 18001, ISO 45001, ISO 50001 and AS/NZS 4801 by helping them through systems development and the process of certification by a third party independent certification body as shown below.
