A gap analysis is an audit or review that establishes what materials and resources make up your environmental, health and safety, energy or quality management system, and what are missing.
From here, we can develop your management system into one that is complete, productive, legally compliant and to a certification standard if required.
A gap analysis typically scrutinises organisational processes such as standard operating procedures, training processes, risk assessment methodologies, any previous incidents and the roles and responsibilities of staff and management. It will also examine your regulatory requirements as well as your risks and opportunities such as environmental aspects and impacts.
Graham A Brown & Associates has developed Gap Analysis Protocols to assess your organisation’s conformance to the ISO 14001, AS/NZS 4801 or OHSAS 18001, and ISO 9001 standards. Featuring over 200 questions, our protocols have been successfully applied to major gap analyses for many organisations. Our certified auditors will first seek to identify existing sources of documentation including corporate standards; policies and procedures; manuals; and other instructions.
To complete our analysis, we will examine documents, inspect your worksite(s) and interview relevant personnel and assess the effectiveness of your management programs. We will then provide a detailed report including either recommendations for improvement or an action plan that can be immediately implemented.
A gap analysis can be completed either formally or as a mentoring program that allows you to utilise our consultants’ knowledge and experience.
Our gap analyses are conducted in accordance with the international standard AS/NZS ISO 19011:2014 Guidelines for auditing management systems.
We have completed gap analyses for organisations in many industry sectors, and for government agencies, nationally and internationally. Our tried and tested process provides clients with clear outcomes and strategic plans for developing, implementing and maintaining their management systems and achieving or maintaining certification to internationally-recognised standards where applicable.
